Among the lasting legacies of singer and actress Doris Day is that she helped to establish the ‘bedroom comedy’ movie genre. She appeared in films alongside such leading men of the day as David Niven, Cary Grant, Rock Hudson, James Garner, Clark Gable, and Rod Taylor. She even had her own sitcom on television called The Doris Day Show that aired from 1968 to 1973. Prior to her successful acting career, Day was a top selling singer with a string of hits from throughout the 1950s and 1960s.

Busty blonde Carol Wayne had a regularly occurring role as the Matinee Lady on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. In fact, she appeared in more than 100 episodes as the popular ditzy character in comic sketches that featured sexual innuendos. Wayne’s recurring role was cut, however, when The Tonight Show went from 90 minutes to 60 minutes. Being released from the talk show sent Wayne into a downward spiral. She became addicted to drugs and alcohol and experienced such bad financial difficulties that she reportedly had to work as an escort.
